What is a photometric solid?
A photometric solid is a spatial representation of the luminous intensity of a source or luminaire in the considered directions.
How is it produced?
A photometric goniometer positions the source and detector in successive angular geometries. Recorded luminous intensity values form a spatial distribution whose sections can be shown as polar curves.
Why measure it?
The distribution reveals directionality, symmetry and how light is directed. The L22 laboratory performs agreed luminous intensity distribution measurements and states the accreditation status before accepting an order.
Frequently asked questions
What does a photometric solid show?
The dependence of luminous intensity on direction in space.
How is it measured?
With a gonio-photometer through a series of measurements at defined angles.
Does L22 measure photometric solids?
Yes. Scope and accreditation status are agreed for each measurement.
